課程概述 |
Like English Composition I (1), this course also focuses on sentence and paragraph writing, hoping to establish a good foundation for future essay writing. Besides encouraging the students to apply the important ideas already introduced in English Composition I (1) (such as prewriting, key elements of paragraph, revising, summarizing, and reacting), this semester’s course will introduce three more patterns of development (Classification and division, comparison and contrast, plus cause and effect). In the course of the semester, students will also have to finish three writing assignments in class and three pieces of peer revision at home. A study journal that records the students’ own efforts of polishing English writing has to be submitted at the end of the semester. Most of the course time will be spent in examining sample paragraphs/essays, stimulating ideas for writing, and exploring revisionary possibilities. Study of sample paragraphs/essays and students writing will focus heavily on the language and organization. |
課程目標 |
1.Understand basic ideas about writing and apply them to writing exercises.
2.Improve writing ability by close reading, writing, giving comments and revisionary suggestions, and revising.
3.Avoid common EFL writing problems.
4.Learn how to monitor one’s performance.
5.Be familiarized with at least one dictionary. |
課程要求 |
1.No unexcused absence (penalty up to 10 points).
2.Submit all assignments on time. Unexcused late submission will will be penalized.
3.In-class participation. |
